I have a life that constantly throws me curveballs. Someone is always hurt, there’s always a funny situation, there is always an awkward moment. On a daily basis, I think to myself, “Man…that WOULD happen to me of all people.” Of course I am a normal person with a normal family and a normal life. But rather the situations my family and myself get into seem to teeter between ridiculous and bad luck. Most days I can find it in good fun but other days it takes a toll.
A few years ago there was an incident at a McDonald’s on Balboa Avenue. Every time we went there my locked her keys in the car, and it was 3 or 4 times before it finally stopped. The last time we even joked about it before we got out of the car.
There is my Great Grandpa who pretty much killed himself at 105, because he was just tired of living.
There is my sister who has had every sickness in the book. Including a stomach bug that would not allow her absorb fat. The cure? A week-long detox/flush, followed by weeks of supplements and protein diets. Meaning she pretty much drank Ensures and ate Burgers for a month.
There is the time I saw a motorcycle explode on the freeway and then a couple of minutes later I saw a car flip over and get crushed into an embankment to finally get stopped on the freeway for 2 hours to let the airforce jets into LA. All within a 30 mile strip of the 210.
There is the time my car radio got stuck at a pretty loud level on rock 105.3 for two weeks. I couldn’t even the turn the radio off, it was like all the buttons on the radio stopped working.
There was the time I woke up to a loud noise and looked out side only to see a car on my lawn. A driver side swiped every car on my block until he finally hit the tree in front of house causing him to swing around and slam a car onto my lawn.
There was the time someone broke into our house, emptied out my, my sister’s and my mom’s backpacks and proceeded to steal all of our food. Cleared out our freezer, fridge, and most of the cabinets. Another time some homeless man broke into our yard and walked off with our recycling. There was another time we woke up to our car door open and the only thing missing was some change from the ashtray.
There is the time I unsuspectingly went to a club with a few of my friends and someone pulled out a gun! I seriously ran right out of there.
I am a little tired of all the excitement. I want a quiet life.
